| A
message from Sir Thomas Allen, Patron of Song at St. Mary-Le-Bow
"It
is always heartening to hear of enthusiasm manifesting itself in the Arts. For
someone to be eager enough and brave enough to see the need and have the desire
to establish a recital series is great news indeed.
"I sense a revival
in poetry in general led by the likes of Simon Armitage, Andrew Motion and others.
In parallel with that should come the realisation that good words, and sometimes
even less good words, take on an even greater emotional impact when set to music.
"Here
is a further opportunity for a growing public to encounter great music with the
best of a new generation of singers in recital. I wish Simon only great and good
things for his St Mary le Bow series and rich evenings for those who are wise
enough to attend." |
